Oscar Nominees at the Palace Cinemas

The Scoop

As we have just recently found out the nominations for the 93rd Annual Academy Awards, it seems like the perfect time to visit Palace Cinemas to review the Oscar Nominees for ourselves!

First off, we have Minari directed by Lee Isaac Chung. This film is about a Korean American family that moves to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their American Dream. Its many nominations include:

  • Best Motion picture of the year
  • Best Actor in a leading role
  • Best Actress in a supporting role
  • Best Achievement in directing
  • Best original screenplay
  • Best original score

This film has already won the Best motion Picture in a foreign language at the 2021 Golden Globes, and even being nominated for multiple SAG awards as well.

 

Another nominee is Nomadland, directed by Chloe Zhao, this film is about the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, where Fern packs her van and explores life as a modern-day nomad. Its nominations include:

  • Best Motion Picture
  • Best performance by an actress in a leading role
  • Best Achievement in directing
  • Best adapted screenplay
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Film editing

 

Promising Young Woman was also nominated for multiple awards, being directed by Emerald Fennell. This entertaining story follows Cassie, who was a promising young woman, until an event derailed her future.

  • Best original screenplay
