The much-anticipated return of Palace Cinemas to Byron Bay is drawing closer, with the newly built cinema scheduled to open in April. “Imagine your best movie-going experience – that’s what we will be offering Byron Bay patrons” said Palace CEO Benjamin Zeccola. “Cinema goers will enjoy state of the art digital sound and projection technology, exceptional programming and luxurious seats, made all the more enjoyable with an Aperol Spritz, your favourite local beer or delicious grape variety from our carefully curated wine list, and the renowned Palace emphasis on first class customer service.”

The new cinema will increase from the previous three auditoria to nine, allowing Palace to broaden its program, so in addition to mainstream entertainment there will be more scope to screen independent and art house films as well as alternate content of theatre, opera, art and music presentations. “And of course, Palace Byron Bay will continue to screen its very popular program of international film festivals, with the always popular Alliance French Film Festival screening in April. This will be followed throughout the year with outstanding cinema from Spain, Scandinavia, Italy, Germany and Great Britain” Mr. Zeccola stated.

Located on the top floor of the stunning new Mercato Centre on Jonson Street, in the heart of Byron Bay, the cinema will provide patrons with many options to socialize and enjoy a pre or post movie drink, with the stylish Balcony Bar also offering Stone & Wood and other boutique Australian beers, and a select range of Australian and international wines and classic cocktails. The Bar will include traditional cinema confectionary as well as the legendary Palace handmade choc tops, gourmet olive oil popcorn and fresh barista made Lavazza coffee. Cinema patrons can enjoy their drinks while taking in the view of Jonson Street from the spacious balcony, or inside the cinema watching a film.

“We’re excited to be unveiling Byron Bay’s spectacular new cinema soon” said Mr. Zeccola. “Cinema goers will watch latest release films from the comfort of handcrafted leather seats. This is cinema reimagined.” Car parking will be available on site, with over 300 spaces and free validated parking for cinema customers.
“Palace Cinemas is delighted to be bringing film culture and arts to the new Mercato Centre, destined to become one of the favourite destinations in Byron Bay. With a range of boutiques, restaurants, cafes and other local Byron businesses, we look forward to being part of a new entertainment hub for Byron Bay” said Mr. Zeccola.
